The Uses of Aloe Vera in Jamaica
94
Overview
The medicinal uses of the Aloe Vera plant is believed to have the ability to cure any sickness or disease in Jamaica. This requires in depth knowledge of the healing properties of the plant. The correct application, dosage and timing are important in order to target and cure each disease. Knowing which other herbs to use in conjunction with aloe vera further synergizes the healing effects of the plant. We won’t go into the different combinations because it’s too many and I charge for that type of information.
Aloe Vera is classified as bitters in Jamaica. All herbs that are classified as bitters have a bitter taste and have strong healing properties. Bitters are used to balance out imbalances that may occur in the body such as cancer or any autoimmune diseases. Other popular bitters are sarsaparilla and serosi.
Aloe Vera is administered topically or internally. It can be cut into small pill like blocks and swallowed. It is easy to swallow because it is slimy. Some people soak it in coconut water and drink it. The electrolytic properties of coconut water helps to makes the nutrients in the aloe vera more bio-available. Aloe Vera can also be applied unto the skin or hair just like lotion or shampoo.
Aloe Vera is called Single Bible in Jamaica. It’s like the holy grail of all healing plants. In Jamaica it is believed that majority of all diseases is a result of an imbalanced digestive system. For example, Worms within the intestines or too much bad bacteria in the intestines. Worms and bad bacteria are both anaerobic respirator’s and release toxins into the human body. This in turn results in a plethora of sicknesses. This is where aloe vera has its strongest healing attributes. We will therefore look into the different uses of aloe vera on the island.
De-Worming
As soon as a child gets sick in Jamaica, the parents suspects that the child has worms. They may buy pharmaceutical de-worming medicine or subscribe to herbal medicines such as aloe vera. Herbalist's in Jamaica learn the properties of the plants by the observing the plants in their natural environment. For example, It is observed that parasitic worms that eat plants cannot penetrate the aloe vera. It is therefore assumed that the single bible plant contains natural worm repellents or insecticides. The ability of the plant to heal itself when cut is also a good property to look for in plants. Aloe Vera also has the ability to grow roots when cut and isolated. These properties are indications of the potency of the healing properties of any plant.
The skin of the plant of the Aloe Vera is where the medicinal worm repellent ingredient of the plant is concentrated. Blending the skin and drinking it will kill any type of worm in the intestines or else where. However, strong dosages are not necessary.
Good Bacterial Flora
For someone who eats a lot of meat and little fiber, they would have to go on a 12 hour aloe vera fasting in order to reset the intestinal track of the body before they start eating healthy again. Meats in the intestinal track ferments very quickly which produces a lot of toxins. These toxins in turn paralyses the peristaltic motion of the intestinal muscles. So the meat stays even longer in the body and decomposes even more.
One of the medicinal uses of aloe vera is to clear the intestinal track of all residues. Because the aloe vera is slimy, this helps to trap particles in the intestines, especially the colon. When the residual wastes are trapped and cleared from the body, the good bacteria will automatically replenish itself and aid in proper digestion. The peristaltic ring like muscle will then start working properly again.
Cold and Flu
Aloe Vera boosts the immune system. It contains a long list of Phytonutrients. It contains Vitamin A, B, C, E. It contains a long list of minerals, plant sterols and enzymes. Therefore, the nutrients in the Aloe Vera reinforces each other. When cold and flu symptoms are a result of stressful environments, the use of aloe vera will almost immediately releive colds and flu's.
Ulcer
One of the medicinal uses of aloe vera is to form a protective coating over ulcers and slow the progression of ulcer sores. The coating also protects the ulcer from future damage by the stomach's acidic juices. The nutrients in the aloe vera also counteracts the bacteria responsible for the progression of ulcers. All these factors combine to help the stomach repair itself of the ulcer and return to normal functioning.
Gastroenteritis, Diarrhea and Constipation
Aloe Vera is the number one cure for Gastroenteritis, Diarrhea and Constipation on the island. It is the surest cure. Gastroenteritis and diarrhea is normally caused by a select couple of very stubborn bacteria. These bacteria releases very potent toxins that can literally shut down the body and result in death. The diarrhea is a result of the intestinal track desperately trying to remove the bacteria from the intestinal track, normally unsuccessfully. Fortunately soaking the aloe vera in some coconut water and drinking it will easily eliminate the bacteria from the intestines.
Constipation is alleviated because the aloe vera removes the bacteria that is paralyzing the intestinal track and it helps to push through hard solid body waste.
Topical Treatment
Whether you have oily or dry skin, one of the major medicinal uses of aloe vera is to revitalize the skin. Just cut it into big pieces and rub it on the skin. Use aloe vera to relieve pimples, eczema and any other skin ailments. It also tones the skin to its natural color.
Aloe Vera makes your skin looks younger. It tightens the skin. If you have ever rubbed the plant on your face, there is this feeling of your skin tightening up. This is good, this restores the elastic nature of the skin. Even after washing of the gel, some properties still remain on the the skin that protects the skin from regular bacteria and still shield the skin from UV rays.
In Jamaica, Rastafarian's crush the plant and use it as gel in their hair. It makes the hair really strong and gives it a resilient sheen. Its also used when their may be rare fungal infections of the hair in children. It can also be used to clean cuts and burns. It also speeds up the (scabbing) healing process really fast of cuts.
Vitamin B12 for Vegans
Finding a proper non-meat source for Vitamin B12 has always been a mystery. The good bacteria in the body produces Vitamin B12. The main medicinal use of aloe vera is to support and improve bacteria flora. In addition aloe vera contains the correct combinations of minerals that the bacteria needs to produce Vitamin B12.
Energy Booster
One medicinal use of aloe vera is boasting energy levels. This is due to the vitamin b complexes and other nutrients that aid in converting a higher percentage of the food in your stomach to energy. I personally take a pill of aloe plant in the morning before leaving the house. I definately feel an energy boost. Its also a good cure for low energy associated with depression or sadness.
Cancer Treatment
The main medicinal use of aloe vera is reversing the effects of cancer. The University of the West Indies and Northern Caribbean University did a joint research about treating cancer with aloe vera. The aloe vera contains a super mineral called organic germanium. Most of the healing properties of the plant is attributed to this mineral. The reasearch done by the universities proved that organic germanium helps to shut down cancer cells. The properties of the aloe vera plant basically sends a message to the cancer cells DNA that gives it instructions to stop replicating and shut down.

Thank you so very, very much for expanding my knowledge of the MEDICINAL, REMEDIAL uses of ALOE VERA! I've bought the plant or a piece of this plant for decades, and had no idea that it could heal so very many ailments. I learned
about the medicinal/healing properpties decades ago, in GERMANIUM, but never knew until I read your article, that GERMANIUM was in the Aloe Vera plant... GERMANIUM, in tablet form, can be very, very costly. As the Bible says: "the leaf of the tree shall be for medicine, the fruit of the tree for meat...!" THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU, and may God continue to bless you mightily! from Joyce in Connecticut/USA
